GCAW at World Farm Animal Welfare Beijing Consensus Conference

GCAW is pleased to be attending the World Farm Animal Welfare – Beijing Consensus Conference at the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) headquarters in Italy, September 2023.

Dr Nathan Rhys Williams accepted an invitation to participate in a panel discussion on Sharing Animal Welfare Best Practice at the event. He said, “This conference provides a good opportunity to strengthen global engagement on behalf of GCAW member companies who are committed to breaking down barriers to improving farm animal welfare, wherever they may be present. I look forward to the prospect of outlining GCAW’s position and insights into our priority workstreams surrounding the welfare of pigs, broilers and laying hens, and to connecting with colleagues across the animal welfare spectrum.”

The World Farm Animal Welfare – Beijing Consensus initiative was launched in China in 2018, with a goal to strengthen international cooperation and exchanges, and rebuild a sustainable, responsible and efficient future for the livestock industry. The focus of this year’s event is looking to the future, through co-creating practical strategies which move animal welfare on from ‘common understanding to joint action’.
